Naomi Punk play Golden Teahouse tonight as part of their summer long, months long, tour from west coast to east (and back) for their brand new album Television Man. The band plays tonight's show with Philadelphia's Pink Wash (Ashley Arnwine, drummer of Bleeding Rainbow, and Joey Doubek - formerly of Hume). Opening are PC Worship and Philly's Littler. Olympia's Naomi Punk is like a fine drunken wine, it's that place where you slow down the record and enjoy the slow jam. Television Man is the second release on Captured Tracks by the group, and follows up their debut, The Feeling. The band is amazing at capturing a slow-motion attack on sound which at times is so loose that you could practically swim in it. Their first album, The Feeling was more of a pastiche in ideas, captured sound, and melody, but their latest album, "Television Man" although never straightforward, is a strong aural vision by a band who found a sure footing to release the attack between art and the off-beat. The band takes heavy cues from drone and a legendary experimental group like This Heat would enjoy the company.
